My grandson has to do a school paper on Catahoula Parish and I'm having problems finding local history. I read something about "mounds" but the only book referred to is out of print. Please help. The paper is due in early Oct. Thanks .

We are having a cajun Picnic on the second saturday of August in Puyallup Wa. . There will be Gumbo, cajun food and cajun Music with dancing in a beautiful Park. Every one is asked to bring a dish to share with the others. It is a nice time to promote th

I couldn't wait to leave Opelousas because I thought that everything was passing me by and I was going to be so much happier if I lived somewhere else. Now I'm married to a California native who would never dream of living in Louisiana, much less Opelous
s because he's a city boy. I just dream of my dad's house and how nice it would be to be there with the cotton field on one side and the sugar cane growing in the back. I wish my kids could grow up like I did.

I'm not a Cajun. I've been to Louisiana several times, mostly criminal lawyer conventions. But I have a question which, hopefully, a Cajun should know the answer to. Randy Newman, on his "Good Old Boys" album has a song, Louisiana, 1927, talking about
